Equinox/Samhain Edition 2013
Cecylyna's original concept of Pagan Pride Day included a public ritual or other celebration open to all (Pagans, non-pagans plus onlookers), public relation activities to develop positive media about Paganism and a food drive for local charities to highlight Pagan community service as well as in honor of the Thanksgiving type traditions Pagans hold around the Fall Equinox.
In 2012, Pagan Pride Day, Inc. had 95 official events around the world. Total attendance was over 44,000. A total of over 27,000 pounds of nonperishable food and over 700 pounds of pet food was donated.
In Southern Oregon there have been several failed attempts to organize a Pagan Pride Day. The timing just isn't right yet.
Have you ever attended a Pagan Pride event?
What were the activities?
What was your participation?
Do you feel it was a worthwhile effort?
What might have been done or handled differently to increase appeal?
Feel free to post your comments either here or on our Region's Facebook Page, and if you are curious about whether or not your local area holds an event, you can do a search here. I found these links there (click the Read More link over on the right below to see them); some may have already happened, but maybe you can put these on your radar for next year!
Belated Equinox Blessings,
